This film mainly deals with “the future,” in which it displays possible outcomes of the society’s decision. Although in some parts I was perplexed by the complexity of this subject, I finally understood, as I watched the film, that most of what is mentioned in the is a common topic that I have seen or discussed with others. Throughout the film, I wasn’t really delighted by the negative views of our humanity’s future. Still, I couldn’t help myself from agreeing to the fact that our society will eventually lead itself to “collapse”. Water problem is one of the most discussed topic as my opinion about how the society will “collapse” is composed of the consequences that will result from lack of water. Looking at the film, I felt like we cannot blame anyone or anything else for our society’s collapse since we were the ones who were careless and created pollution that results in lack of water. Also, collapsing due to lack of resources had sound argument contained inside which also appealed to me. Before, there were abundant amount of resources but now, there is a competition for resources which showed that we should stop waiting for free alternative resource to pop out, but rather find it and create it ourselves. The energy created by reflecting sunlight with mirror was an ingenious idea that really surprised me in terms of how smart we humans can be. By watching this film I felt like I need to do what I can to prevent the collapse of my society in my generation. Also I realized that all the possible cause of our collapse is really what we need to work on either saving or creating, since there is a historical evidence that even the greatest empire met its downfall due to such factor.
Finally, I learned that more harm that one individual do to the environment on earth, closer we are to the collapse of not just our society, but the earth itself. We’ve seen major problems that were mentioned in this film. What we need to do is to learn from it and prepare for the next challenge that we might face.
